What are Walter Hill frames made from?

Our frames are cut from premium cellulose acetate. It is a plant-based material spun from renewable cotton and wood pulp. No cheap petroleum plastics. Just a high-end material that is hypoallergenic, kinder to the planet, and safe for sensitive skin.

Why do the colors look so deep?

Acetate is not painted. We slice it from solid sheets and hand-polish every frame by hand. The result is rich, multi-dimensional color and a deep, glass-like shine. It is what gives our tortoiseshells and transparent gradients their layered, expensive look. You cannot fake that with molded plastic.

How will they fit?

Acetate responds to your body heat. The frames soften slightly and mold to the shape of your head over time. Want a precise fit right away? Any optician can fine-tune them in minutes. The material also carries a satisfying density. It balances the weight of a quality lens and keeps the glasses from slipping.

How durable are they?

Every frame is built around a hidden wire core. They hold their shape. They will not snap, crack, or fade in the summer sun. Leave them on a hot dash and they will not warp the way inferior materials do. These are made to be worn for years, not seasons.
